City-wide QI in OB – Cancelled

As you know, on March 31st, the OB Society of Philadelphia was planning to host a meeting “Shared Quality Initiatives in OB Care in the City of Philadelphia”. At this meeting, we were planning to discuss several initiatives that the Obstetrical Chairs in the city of Philadelphia have been working on relating to improved safety and care of our patients.

Unfortunately, we are cancelling the meeting due to several conflicts. We are sorry for the late notification and for any inconveniece that this may cause. We are planning to reschedule the meeting this spring, and we will let you know as soon as a date has been set. We are very excited about having this meeting, and we hope that the change in date will not affect your desire to attend.

The Third Philadelphia Prenatal Diagnosis Update Conference- June 10 2011

2011 Phila Prenatal Diagnosis Update Brochure

This two-day conference is aimed at bringing the clinician up-to-date in the rapidly advancing field of genetics and prenatal diagnosis and obstetrics complications. Current screening and testing recommendations, as well as cutting edge technology and research, will be presented. In addition, current management of complicated pregnancies and update on new recommendations for prenatal care will be presented. The course on obstetrics complications will be aimed at obstetricians,nurses-midwives and health care professionals caring for the pregnant patients.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed for practicing obstetricians, perinatologists, family practitioners, midwives, genetic counselors, ultrasonographers, nurses and other applicable health practitioners.

The Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia sponsored the second annual “Quality Improvement Initiatives in Obstetrical Care” forum on March 5, 2011.

This meeting was made possible from a generous grant by Dolores Smith of the March of Dimes. This forum was a follow up from last years successful initial program that highlighted eleven institutions from all over the state presenting innovative Quality Initiatives. This year’s program focused on data and outcomes. There were presentations from 8 institutions who had presented last year as well as a stimulating presentation from Geisinger on “Process Redesign and Outcomes in Ob Care”. Once again the program was at the Zubrow Auditorium in Pennsylvania Hospital.

NEUBERT 2017As the days grow shorter and the memories of warm summer days fade in the rearview mirror, I have been finding more time to catch up on my reading. I recently completed an interesting article discussing a new book by medical historian Paul A. Offit, titled Pandora’s Lab: Seven Stories of Science Gone Wrong.
